ABC Lottery Licenses Announced

Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control ISSUANCE OF ORIGINAL AND INTERCOUNTY TRANSFER OF ON-SALE GENERAL AND OFF- SALE GENERAL LICENSES

PRIORITY FILING PERIOD:

During the period of September 10 – 21, 2018, ABC offices will accept applications for priority licenses in eligible counties (see page 7 of form).

The following counties have licenses available:

Contra Costa – 25

Imperial – 5
Kern – 25
Kings – 4
Lassen – 1
Los Angeles – 25
Madera – 5
Merced – 7

Orange – 25
Placer – 2
Riverside – 25
Sacramento – 25
San Benito – 2
San Bernardino – 25
San Diego – 25
San Francisco (Type 87 w/ restrictions *) – 5
San Joaquin – 25
San Mateo – 1
Santa Barbara – 1
Santa Clara – 25
Santa Cruz – 1
Solano – 16
Sonoma – 1
Stanislaus – 21
Sutter – 2

Tulare – 15

* SF specialty licenses are only available in certain census tracts in outer neighborhoods of Portola, Bayview, Ocean Ave, Excelsior, Outer Sunset, Parkside & Visitation Valley. They cannot be transferred.

The new Type 47 (and the special SF Type 87) licenses have been announced! You can apply for one for less than the usual market rate for $15,384.

You will need a lease in place, effective January 1, 2019 or sooner, with at least a 2 year tenancy and your LLC or Corporation must be over 90 days old (and registered in California). FILING THE PRIORITY APPLICATION:

Applications may be filed in person by going to one of the ABC offices listed on Page 8 or by mail. You may file your application at the local ABC office overseeing the county where your proposed premises will be located, or at any local ABC office that is more convenient for you. During the priority period, ABC offices will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

PRIORITY OF APPLICANTS

If the number of applicants is equal to or less than the number of licenses available, all applicants will be notified that they have 90 days to complete a formal application for their specific premises.

If there are more applicants than licenses available, a public drawing will be held; the time, date, and place of any drawing will be posted on the ABC website (www.abc.ca.gov). After the drawing is held, the Department will notify each applicant by mail of their priority position.
