Academy of Hospitality & Tourism –
San Francisco Unified School District
The Golden Gate Restaurant Association is proud to work with the San Francisco Unified School District’s Career Technical Education program to provide experience based opportunities for students and teachers through the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism. Four high schools currently have students enrolled in Hospitality Academies: Galileo, Ida B. Wells, George Washington and new as of 2012 John O'Connell High School. We are excited to be part of the continued expansion of the hospitality academies throughout the district.
Restaurants are encouraged to participate in the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism by speaking to classes about the industry, participating in competitions as judges, and bringing students into their restaurants for job shadows and internships. There are several opportunities throughout the year to provide students job shadow and internships:
GGRA Member Academy of Hospitality Participation Form
Summer 2013 Employer Application
Summer 2013 Internship Overview
Summer Internships – mid June to late July.
Extended Job Shadows – late February to mid April
Thank you to the GGRA Member Restaurants who invited students into their businesses during the 2012 National Ground Hog Day and who have participated in the hospitality academies by speaking to students during class about the industry!
