Sara Jacoby

Sara Jacoby, 18, has just graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont California. In 2008 while still a freshman, she began actively pursuing her interest in cooking and started working for a local caterer. Throughout high school she continued to practice on her own, cooking dinner for her family, and taking private and extracurricular cooking classes offered by the city of Fremont. In October of her junior year she actively pursued a position at The Rising Loafer, a local bakery in Pleasanton, where she still works today as a baker. Mary Costello, owner of the Rising Loafer states, “Sara is a delight to work with. She is always on time, hard working and dedicated…my customers love all her new recipes and think they are divine. Sara shines and loves what she does.”

The Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship Foundation Trustees were so impressed with Sara during her interview they awarded her the Grison award, one of three named scholarships the foundation gives. The Grison scholarship is awarded to the student who displays exceptional promise in the culinary field.

This fall Sara starts at City College of San Francisco where she is already enrolled full time in the Culinary Arts program. She is focused, hard working and dedicated to following her calling in the culinary industry wherever it takes her.
