Chefs Needed for Demonstrations at this Year's Fancy Food Show!
Eight chefs are needed to demonstrate original recipes using Japanese ingredients at this year's Winter Fancy Food Show at Moscone Center (January 15-17). The Organization to Promote Japanese Restaurants Abroad (JRO), promoting the use of Japanese products in the United States, is looking for eight Bay Area Chefs to put their creative minds to work and develop recipes using traditional Japanese ingredients, then prepare those recipes live at the Fancy Food Show.
Chefs are free to experiment with both savory and sweet dishes using required ingredients. Each chef will receive a $500 stipend plus reimbursement for ingredients used in the recipes they demonstrate.
Interested Chefs will attend an introductory event and tasting Benihana Restaurant in San Francisco, 2pm on November 21 where a Japanese Chef will prepare dishes with the required ingredients (see list of ingredients
here ). Then the participating chefs will be asked to develop original recipes to demonstrate live in three, 45 minute demonstrations in the Japanese Pavilion during Fancy Food Show.
JRO will provide signage highlighting each chef during their demonstrations including headshot, bio and restaurant information, and are also planning to include this information in a program guide at the show.
