Mayor Lee Vetos Campo’s Healthcare Amendment, Saving Jobs and Local Businesses

posted on Wednesday, Oct 26, 2011

On Tuesday, October 25th Mayor Lee vetoed Supervisor Campo’s job killing health care amendments, preventing hundreds of businesses from being at risk of mass layoffs or closing all together.

Thank you to all of the members of the Golden Gate Restaurant Association that reached out to the Mayor’s office urging him to veto. The legislation would have sucked more than $50 million out of the city’s economy and would have been the single, largest new fee on San Francisco businesses in more than a decade.

By working together with a broad coalition of businesses, non-profits, and civic organizations we were able to show that there is a better way. We will continue to work with Mayor Lee, Board President David Chiu and others to reach a common sense solution that improves health outcomes while not unduly burdening business.
