Cops and Joggers Community Event

This fall, on September 23rd, SAFE and the SFPD will host “Cops and Joggers Community Event” in conjunction with the San Francisco Police Department’s Picnic. Nearly 700 participants from the SFPD and the general public will gather in Golden Gate Park for a 5K race and BBQ to raise awareness of personal and family safety. We ask you to be part of this important collaboration of the police community and San Francisco residents by providing a sponsorship or donation to the Cops and Joggers event. In the past, Project SAFE has received donations of ribs, hotdogs, hamburgers and breads, but would really appreciate it if members of the Golden Gate Restaurant Association could assist with donations of sides: salads -green, macaroni, potato, fruit, beans and/or corn on the cob. We are also planning a pie eating contest, so pies are welcomed as well.

This event will benefit SAFE (Safety Awareness for Everyone) a non-profit organization that works directly with the SFPD and other city agencies to make sure everyone knows how to protect themselves, how to handle life-threatening situations, and how to access emergency services.

For 36 years SAFE has been dedicated to working directly on crime prevention strategies for those that work and live in the city. SAFE has organized thousands of Neighborhood Watch Groups across the city, becoming a liaison between the community and the SFPD. Your contribution will not only support the “Cops and Joggers Community Event” but will help SAFE continue its mission in creating safer neighborhoods in San Francisco.

If you have questions about SAFE or the event please contact Jennifer Dhillon, SAFE’s Executive Director at (415) 553-1981 or visit www.sfsafe.org.
