Threat of Weekend Health Inspections Averted

Due to the leadership of Mayor Lee, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH) has backed down on a move that would have led to weekend health inspections. As you may recall, we asked members to write to the Mayor, DPH and the Board of Supervisors, to prevent the implementation of a health inspection schedule that would have allowed standard inspections to happen on weekends. Under the new guidelines, there are to be no random or unannounced weekend inspections.  Instead, weekend inspections will only happen for 1) temporary events, 2) re-inspections to re-open establishments whose permits have been revoked, and 3)  inspections for food establishments that have not yet been opened.
