Worker Training Culinary Showcase A Success

The Worker Training Program at City College’s Chinatown/North Beach Annex hosted their third Culinary Showcase last week. The program gave the thirteen students graduating from the free, six week Worker Training class the chance to network and show off their cooking skills to 29 representatives from businesses and various leaders in the community. Mayor Lee joined the showcase and was able to try each students’ dish. To see pictures from the event, check out GGRA on Twitter. Executive Director, Gwyneth Borden, spoke on behalf of the GGRA about the GGRA’s continuing support of this program, the Workforce Investment Board’s Hospitality Initiative, and the Culinary and Hospitality Studies program at CCSF.

Events like the showcase give restaurants a new way to meet potential candidates for employment. Instead of sifting through hundreds of blind emails or using sites like Craigslist, employers can speak with candidates while tasting their food. Please join us for the next showcase in late spring.
