Mission Statement

Founded in 1968 as a 501(c)3, the GGRA’s Scholarship and Education Foundation’s mission is to provide scholarships and education grants for individuals to attend education programs for fields in the area of food service and/or hospitality. The grants provide financial assistance for students in programs certified by a school, college, university, or non-profit 501(c)3 organization, or can provide financial assistance for lecturers or instructors or, for institutions to create courses.

These scholarships and/or grants can be given to individuals and/or to a school, college, university, or 501(c)3 organizations that offer such programs.

Overview / Information

Before the Covid-19 pandemic the organization focused on interviewing applicants and providing individual scholarships to students looking to pursue education in areas of culinary training, hospitality management and/or hotel specific management.

After the pandemic , the board of trustees voted to move to make grants to 501(c)3 organizations, schools, colleges, or universities, whose mission is to provide culinary and hospitality management training. The board also recognizes the important work and training done by the GGRA and has allocated monies to help offset some of those expenses and overhead costs.

In 2022 the organization reactivated after a period of dormancy in 2020 and 2021. It applied in 2022 for a grant from Google and was awarded a $100,000 grant. It distributed these monies in 2023. In the subsequent years the organization has given out the following grants.
